Bra Strap Pain? This Might Be Why...
We've all been there. That nagging ache in your shoulders at the end of the day, the deep bra strap grooves in your skin, the constant need to adjust and readjust. Bra strap pain is incredibly common, but it's not something you have to just live with.
So, why do bra straps cause shoulder pain?
Here are a few of the most common culprits:
- Poor Fit: This is the biggest offender! If your bra band is too loose, your straps will have to work overtime to support your bust, putting extra pressure on your shoulders.
- Narrow Straps: Thin straps dig into your shoulders, especially if you're larger-busted. Wider straps distribute the weight more evenly.
- Strap Adjustment: Straps that are too tight can obviously cause pain, but straps that are too loose can also be a problem, as they allow the bra to ride up, again putting pressure on your shoulders.
- Bra Style: Some bra styles, like racerback or balconette bras, can put more pressure on your shoulders than others.
- Heavy Bust: The more weight your bra has to support, the more strain on your shoulders.
What can you do about it?

- Choose the Right Bra: I know this sounds super obvious but remember to look for bras with wider, padded or stretchy straps and a supportive band. Consider styles like front-closure bras, which often have more comfortable strap placement like the Enell LITE front fastening everyday support bra:
- Adjust Your Straps: Make sure your straps are snug but not too tight. You should be able to comfortably fit one finger under the strap.
